What is the mudjacking process?
Here’s a graphic showing explaining the mudjacking process:
Why does concrete need to be leveled?
With Wisconsin’s rain and weather conditions, the soil beneath your exterior and interior slabs can erode, leaving you with a sinking slab or slabs. Leaving these voids, or empty areas beneath the concrete, can lead to them sinking even further if not corrected. There is also the increased potential for water damage to your home due to the grade not being correct. Sidewalks, driveways, patios and porches must be graded away from your home to divert water away, and when they are not it creates the potential for damage to your foundation as well as flooding. On top of potential water damage, there are the dangerous and unsightly even slabs that can cause a tripping hazard. Mudjacking is the key to fixing your uneven concrete.
How much does concrete leveling cost?
While costs will vary depending on the scope of the job to be done, the typical price range is between $300 and $3,000. However, the best way to know how much your concrete leveling will cost is with a FREE estimate from our concrete leveling experts.
What happens if I don’t level my concrete?
Rot. Mold. Foundation problems. These are all possibilities that can be costly and even dangerous. Mudjacking (also known as slab jacking, mud pumping or concrete leveling) is a cost effective and easy measure to ensure that further damage is not done.By not mudjacking already sinking slabs, these slabs can sink further, leading to cracking and even crumbling concrete, which will then need to be completely replaced. Use our accredited contractor to ensure sinking concrete doesn’t affect the health of your home and family.
What causes concrete to settle?
Concrete begins to settle when the soil beneath the concrete either washes away or settles. This can be caused by rain or snow melt, soil that was not compacted, or soil that has dried and shrunk. Leaking pipes beneath a slab can also create these conditions. If you have under-slab piping that is slowly leaking, soil can wash away, leaving a void below your slab. This soil displacement then causes the concrete above to shift, sink, or buckle under its own weight. Mudjacking your sinking concrete slabs and returning them back to their original level can prevent long term damage to your home.
Should I just replace my concrete instead?
Unless your concrete is severely damaged or crumbling, mudjacking is a fraction of the cost and a fraction of the time that would take for concrete replacement. Labor alone for concrete replacement is at least double, since the old slab needs to be removed and cleaned up before a new one can be poured. Mudjacking also ensure that your existing slab will match color with your surrounding slabs since new concrete is lighter in color. With our concrete leveling services, there is no drying time, and the slab can be walked on within minutes. Mudjacking saves time, money, hassle and cleanup over concrete replacement.
Will I need to be home during mudjacking?
With your permission, exterior concrete slabs can be leveled without you needing to be present. However, if the slab that is being repaired is an interior slab, someone will need to be there while the work is being performed.
